"The Impact of Mobile Phones on Young Minds" by Aditya Singh

I clearly remember when I enrolled in college at BHU about six years ago, my parents bought me a mobile phone. That’s when it all started spending time on screens and using mobile phones for hours. Gradually, my screen time increased, and I began losing track of time. There were days when I spent more than 10 hours a day on my phone. I also noticed that during this time, I started getting irritated over small things.

I mention this because now I see children as young as two years old using mobile phones. They get angry or upset when the phone is taken away from them. This worries me because mobile phones are harming their ability to think and respond naturally. It is during these early years that children develop their cognitive skills, but excessive screen time is limiting that.

We are at a critical point in human history where an entire generation is growing up learning through phones instead of human interaction. This will distort their sense of reality. If they ever face the real world with its challenges and uncertainties, they may not handle it well. It’s something we all need to think seriously about and address before it’s too late.
