"The Last Page" By Aditya Singh
In our childhood, the books we received for school often reflected an interesting pattern of behavior. The front pages were treated with great care and decorated meticulously, as if to present our best selves to the world. These pages were a showcase, carefully managed to make a good impression. In contrast, the last pages of the book served a completely different purpose. They became a private space where we recorded the most personal and significant aspects of our lives phone numbers, secret desires, or dreams for the future. These pages were hidden from others, yet they contained the essence of who we truly were.
This duality of presenting a polished exterior while hiding our true selves holds a deeper psychological meaning. Under Project Sampoorna through Social and emotional learning (SEL) plays a crucial role in bridging this gap. Through SEL, we are helping students bring the emotions, thoughts, and aspirations they hide in the “last pages” of their metaphorical books to the forefront, integrating them with the carefully curated “front pages.” By fostering self-awareness, empathy, and expression, SEL encourages students to embrace and present their authentic selves confidently.
Although this process takes time, its impact is profound. When students no longer feel the need to conceal their emotions but learn to express them constructively, they become more connected, confident, and compassionate. Like blending the last pages with the front, this journey fosters growth and authenticity, benefiting individuals and the larger community.
