"Free Will" By Aditya Singh
For a long time, I believed that as human beings, we have the freedom to make choices and shape our lives the way we want. I used to think that if I decided to do something, it was entirely my choice, and the outcome would depend on my efforts. However, as time passed, I began to notice a strange pattern. Even when I took the first step towards something, believing it was my decision, a series of unexpected events would follow. These events often made me question whether I was truly in control. Many times, the final outcome was completely different from what I had imagined.
This led me to rethink the idea of free will. Are we really making our own choices, or is it just an illusion? If we closely observe life, we can see that things often happen in ways we never expected. Sometimes, even when we make careful decisions, circumstances beyond our control push us in a different direction. If we could go back 10 years and tell our past selves what we are doing today, we probably wouldn’t believe it. Similarly, if we try to predict what will happen 10 years from now, we might be completely wrong. Life is full of surprises, and no matter how much we try to plan, it unfolds in its own way.
This makes me believe that something more powerful is guiding our lives. Some people call it fate, destiny, or the universe. Others call it God, Bhagwan, Allah, or by different names. Whatever we call it, the truth remains the same, life does not always go according to our plans. We may think we are making choices, but in reality, life moves on its own path, shaping our experiences in ways we cannot predict or control.
Many times, we convince ourselves that we are in charge of our destiny. We set goals, make plans, and work hard to achieve them. But then unexpected events occur, opportunities appear out of nowhere, or challenges arise that change everything. Sometimes, what we desperately wanted does not happen, and instead, something completely different takes place. In the moment, we may feel frustrated or disappointed, but later, we often realize that things happened for a reason.
Looking back, I can see how many of my past choices led to outcomes I never expected. I thought I was deciding my future, but now I feel that life was unfolding the way it was meant to, regardless of my decisions. This does not mean that we should stop making efforts or planning for the future. It simply means that we should not be too attached to our expectations. Life has its own way of surprising us.
In the end, we may never fully understand whether we truly have free will or if our choices are just part of a greater plan. But one thing is certain, life moves forward, shaping us through experiences beyond our imagination. What we believe to be our decisions may just be an illusion, while life continues to unfold in ways only time can reveal.
