"Bridging Emotional and Digital Literacy Through Trust Circle" By Aditya Singh
Trust Circle is a platform where students can register their emotions and track how they are feeling. By regularly monitoring their emotional states, we can observe if certain emotions stay for a longer time and start turning into deeper feelings. If these feelings begin to affect a student’s well-being, we take it seriously and try to help them.
When I first started working as a Gandhi Fellow, I believed that understanding, expressing, and regulating emotions was a completely new concept for students. It took me around 8 months of consistent effort to raise awareness among them about emotions and how to express and manage them. Despite this, many students across different schools still found it difficult to identify their emotions or talk about them openly.
At first, I thought the Trust Circle platform might not be very effective because of these challenges. But over time, I began to notice something amazing. The very students who used to struggle with expressing their emotions started opening up through the platform. For them, Trust Circle became nothing short of a miracle. They began using emojis to represent their emotions, and that simple act helped them express how they were feeling. After logging their emotions, many of them shared that they felt lighter and happier.
One unexpected and very positive outcome was that many students started showing interest in using computers. In most of the schools I work with, students don’t get regular computer classes due to different factors. But because they wanted to log their emotions on the Trust Circle platform, they began asking their ICT coordinators to let them use the computer lab. This helped them not only express their emotions but also learn basic computer skills. They are now understanding how technology can be used for their personal growth and well-being.
In conclusion, the Trust Circle platform has proven to be a powerful tool for emotional awareness and digital learning. It is helping students unlock their emotions in a safe and simple way, while also introducing them to the world of technology.
