"To Perish in the Great and Impossible" By Aditya Singh
At
some point in life, almost every human being pauses to ask what is the
meaning of life? It’s one of those timeless questions that has
haunted poets, philosophers, and ordinary people alike. We all search for an
answer that will make sense of our existence. But perhaps the truth is simpler
and stranger than we think.
I believe that the meaning of life exists only when we are chasing
our unrealistic desires. Those wild, unreachable dreams that seem impossible they
give us a reason to move, to wake up, to hope. Life gets its flavor not from
what we already have, but from what we are still longing for.
But here’s the irony: the moment you achieve one of those
unrealistic desires, you often realize it wasn’t worth as much as you imagined.
The excitement fades, the satisfaction feels temporary, and suddenly, you find
yourself asking again what is life all about? It’s almost like a loop. You
chase, you achieve, you feel empty, and then you begin to chase again.
So maybe life itself is that chase
the pursuit of things just beyond our reach. Unrealistic desires give direction
to our restlessness. They keep us moving forward, even when we don’t fully
understand why. They make us feel alive.
As Friedrich Nietzsche once said,
“I
know of no better life purpose than to perish in attempting the great and the
impossible.”
This thought perfectly captures
the essence of what makes life meaningful. The beauty lies not in success, but
in the striving. To live for something greater than yourself, something you
might never truly achieve is to give your life a purpose that never fades.
And if you’re lucky enough to
achieve all your unrealistic dreams, you might once again find yourself
standing in that familiar emptiness, wondering what’s next. That’s why the
secret might not lie in attaining
those desires, but in having them.
So if you ever find yourself
trapped in the cycle of questioning life’s meaning, don’t try to escape it by
seeking easy answers. Instead, set for yourself another dream that feels
impossible, another desire that stretches your imagination. In the journey
toward it in the struggles, hopes, and failures you might discover what life
truly is: not a destination to reach, but a beautiful, endless chase.
