"The Two Kinds of People" By Aditya Singh
As we grow older and walk through
different phases of life, we meet all kinds of people some stay, some leave,
and some simply pass through like a breeze. But if you slow down and pay real
attention, you’ll begin to notice something interesting: most people around us
fall into just two categories. There are those who work with you, and those who
work on you. At first, these two phrases sound almost identical, but the
difference between them is as wide as day and night.
The people who work with you are the
ones who stand beside you only when there is a task to be done or a favor to be
taken. They will sit with you during assignments, join you during group
projects, call you when they need help, and sometimes even laugh with you when
the moment is light. But once their purpose is fulfilled, they slowly fade back
into the world of “just colleagues,” “just classmates,” or “just
acquaintances.” Their presence is transactional timed, limited, and dependent
on what they need from you.
It often takes time before you see
this pattern clearly. In the beginning, it feels like friendship or support,
but later you recognize the truth: recognise who act to help you and who help you. One is temporary
assistance, the other is genuine intention.
Then there is the second type the rare
kind the people who work on you. These people don’t just stand with you; they
invest in you. They see your potential even when you fail to recognize it
yourself. They push you gently, guide you patiently, and correct you honestly.
They are not around you because they want something from you; they are around
you because they want something for you.
They want you to grow.
They want you to become stronger.
They want you to learn, unlearn, break
patterns, build new ones, and become a better version of yourself.
These are the people who give without
calculating, who teach without expecting, and who support without conditions.
They don’t just help you complete a task they help you rise, help you evolve,
help you understand life in ways you never imagined.
This is why it becomes incredibly
important to identify the difference between the two kinds of people. One kind
uses your time; the other strengthens your future. One drains your energy; the
other refills it. One keeps you where you are; the other helps you reach where
you deserve to be.
Life becomes much simpler when you
learn to distinguish between them. Focus your energy on those who work on you people
who truly care, who genuinely want to see you grow, and who will stand with you
even when there is nothing in it for them.
In the end, the people who work with
you will finish their task and move on.
But the people who work on you will
leave a mark so deep that it shapes the way you walk through the world.
Choose them wisely. They are the ones
who take you forward.
